2008.08.08 : Please Leave a Message

As you can probably guess, being a small company means that we’re pulled in many different directions on any given day. That said, if you happen to get our voice mail when you take the time to call, please take a minute or two longer and leave a message. We might be up to our elbows in fondant or butter cream icing, or we might be on the line consulting with another client.

Whatever the case, we do want to hear from you and we will return your call just as soon as we can. You can also visit our contact page and send us an email!

2008.08.08 : Elegance in Bridal Show - Event Report

As you likely already know, I recently attended the Elegance in Bridal Show as a vendor. This was the fifth year for this particular bridal show. The event was hosted by Event Savvy and held at the Holiday Inn Select Richmond Koger South in Midlothian, Virginia.

First of all, I can not say enough good things about the event itself and the staff of Event Savvy!

The bridal and fashion show were held in the grand ballroom which comfortably made room for approximately fifty vendors and 500 brides-to-be and their guests. Everyone, from the staff of the hotel to the event coordinators, was as friendly as could be! Khaliyah Barakhyahu, the owner of Event Savvy, and her staff took time throughout the day to come around and visit each vendor individually and to make sure we had everything we needed.

This was the largest bridal show that I have participated in to date and what an experience it was! I created three different cakes for display in our booth. Two of the cakes were done in fondant and the orange and yellow themed cake was actually done in buttercream (pictures to follow shortly, right, Bruce?). I surprised many people with just how smooth this cake was. Most people thought it was fondant. Surprise!

We handed out gift bags with several goodies to all of the brides-to-be. We also served more than 200 samples, which you can see on display in the pictures. By 2:15 that afternoon I was completely out! I couldn’t believe it. For anyone who visited my booth after the samples were gone, please contact us for a free tasting consultation. I would love to meet with you and discuss all of the possibilities for your dream wedding cake.

What a joy it was to be a part of such a great event. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet with so many great brides, as well as their families and friends. It was good to see so many grooms in attendance too. I’m hoping everyone had as an enjoyable time attending the show as I did. Congratulations to the two lucky brides who were picked in my drawing. Both lucky ladies received a beautiful silver double-heart cake topper as well as a gorgeous knife and server set!

Preparing for the show made for a long but exciting weekend. Now that the show is past I am already in the planning stages for next year! Maybe we’ll win Best Bridal Booth two years in a row?

If you missed this time around, look for us at the Richmond Bridal Showcase at the Greater Richmond Convention Center on January 11th, 2009.

Thank you again to everyone at Event Savvy and all great people I met.

2008.08.06 : EIB Exhibitor Award

We were just notified that we won the Best Booth Award at the Elegance In Bridal Show last month! There were some very nice displays from some great companies and we’re very proud of being recognized as the best among them.

Alicia’s still talking about all the nice people she met there and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event.

And yes, I’m still hounding Alicia for a post about the show. Every time I say something she very nicely reminds me that she can’t make cakes and blog at the same time. :)

2008.08.03 : Tips for Saving Money on Your Wedding

Alicia appeared on the Making Your Event Special Radio Show again last week and did a great segment on ways to save money on your wedding.
